Student employee

HE instutions are increasingly concerned about the student employee question.

UNT can help them to find solutions :

  • by providing additional and/or alternative OER
  • by helping to create in-situ or virtual resource centers based on OER connected with a student's course

Scenario 1

This scenario may not be attractive for the institution, both in terms of costs and mobilization, it is however easy to implement and may serve as a transitional solution as it can :

  • Identify the students with difficulties at the begining of the semester (by declaring themselves)
  • Suggest to the student, with the relevant UNT (educational libraries, documentalist etc.) the most appropriate OER to complete his in-class course
Scenario 2

This scenario is both more engaging and more efficient for the HE institution :

  • Identifying the students with difficulties at the begining of the semester (by declaring themselves)
  • Approving the justification of a student's absence (conditions in terms of income for a paid employment)
  • Offering additional trainings that match with the student's presence and possibilities. These training units will be based on OER as well as on specific resources a teacher will create

This scenario aims to set up a hybrid learning system

Scenario 3

A common variant of the two previous scenarios could consist in setting up a virtual or in-situ resources center offering a tutorship by students or teachers, with a frequency that fits each university department means.

This variant increases the performance of these three scenarios significantly.
